Best Photography locations in Lençóis Maranhenses National Park, Brazil

Nestled within the relatively remote northeastern region of Brazil lies a natural wonder that attracts adventure enthusiasts from around the globe. Lençóis Maranhenses National Park, with its seemingly endless expanse of pristine white sand dunes and crystalline freshwater lagoons, stands as a testament to the raw, untouched beauty of Brazil. Though its location might pose a challenge to some, the allure of Lençóis Maranhenses, beckons travellers to venture into its ethereal landscape year after year.

The park, situated along Brazil's north Atlantic coast, offers a striking contrast between white sand dunes, coastal waters and the encroaching jungle. What makes this destination even more enchanting is the seasonal transformation it undergoes during the rainy months from June to September, where the rainwater accumulates within the vast dunes to create a sea of perfectly clear fresh water lagoons.

While the journey to this hidden gem may initially seem daunting, the rewards are worth the effort. Accessible via the Sao Luis airport, approximately 260 kilometers from the park, the town of Barreirinhas serves as the gateway to this natural wonder. Alternatively, those seeking a more immersive experience can opt for a longer route, flying into Fortaleza and basking in the scenic coastal vistas that adorn the 650-kilometer stretch before reaching Lençóis Maranhenses National Park. For a professional travel photographer like me, the journey from Fortaleza was an opportunity to capture moments that tell my perspective of this stunning coastline. London Photography doesn’t quite offer the same canvas…

During my expedition to Lençóis Maranhenses, my goal was to uncover the best photography locations in the area, showcasing this natural wonder through drone photography.

Here are some of the shots that offer a glimpse of Lençóis Maranhenses and the best photography locations in Lençóis Maranhenses National park. These images not only serve as a testament to the park's unparalleled charm but also stand as a reminder of the profound impact this place had on me.
