It’s easy to see why Madeira was the number one island destination in 2021. I was so excited to visit this wonderfully unique archipelago just hanging out off the coast of mainland Portugal, but nothing could prepare me for its outstanding natural beauty. The island has everything from steep mountains to misty forests, epic waterfalls, rocky peninsulas and a beautiful coastline. Quite simply, Madeira is a photographer’s paradise, and a must visit location.
